Review: A 10-year government road safety and health promotion strategy addressing factors involved in road accidents such as alcohol and other drugs. The strategy will include the implementation of initiatives such as compulsory use of alcohol interlocks for drivers with DUI offences, and random roadside drug testing. Particular concern is being given to at-risk driver situations including rural and remote driving, youth drivers and senior drivers. The strategy has been developed after extensive consultation with justice, police and road and traffic authorities, and experts in health and human behaviour. The 2016-2020 Action Plan is available to be downloaded in PDF.
