About ADIN
What is ADIN?
The Australian Drug Information Network (ADIN) provides a central point of access to quality Internet-based alcohol and drug information provided by prominent organisations in Australia and internationally. ADIN is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing as part of the National Illicit Drug Strategy and managed by the Australian Drug Foundation.
What does ADIN do?
ADIN delivers alcohol and drug information to its website visitors who search ADIN's large collection of quality-assessed websites and databases. Organisations and individuals can search and share relevant information on licit and illicit drug issues.
Who is ADIN for?
ADIN is designed for both local and international communities, including:
- Universities and researchers;
- Health professionals and health care facilities;
- Parents and school students;
- People living in rural and remote communities;
- People from diverse cultural backgrounds;
- Indigenous Australians; and
- People with concerns about their own alcohol or drug use.
What is ADIN Quality Assurance?
ADIN quality assurance secures the delivery of accurate alcohol and drug information by combining the use of sophisticated Internet searching techniques with the expertise of senior drug and alcohol professionals.
ADIN clearly identifies and evaluates its content, emphasising Australian information from reputable organisations, such as government departments, academic institutions, national peak bodies and organisations with recognised expertise in alcohol and drug issues. Visitor feedback also contributes to the evaluation and continuous improvement to ensure that the community has access to information of the best possible standard.
ADIN Ranking
ADIN ranks organisations according to the quality of Australian drug information they publish on the Internet. ADIN's default setting sorts the search returns into a prioritised form so that the most credible of the Australian organisations occupy the top positions on each screen. To turn off the ranking system, click "Disable ADIN Ranking" on the advanced search page before submitting a search.
URL Filtering
URL filtering provides only one result in a row from one particular website. By turning this off you will see more results from the one URL in a row.
